Bacteria rule the planet. In the Hendrickson lab at Massey University we use a combination of experimental evolution, bacterial genomics, cell biology and genetics to study important transitions in microbiology. We are currently pursuing projects that involve the evolution of cell shape, virulence and endosymbiosis. For more information on specific projects see the tabs to the left of head to the Research page.
The lab is also actively involved in communicating science to the public. You can find links to videos, articles and recordings on the Science Communication page or check out Heather's blog on Wordpress at "This Microbial Life".
We are recruiting new lab members! We are looking for two PhD students to work on the evolution of endosymbiosis and a technician. If you are interested in joining us please reach out to Heather. For more details on the project please see our posting at Find a PhD.
